Clearly the board’s primary responsibility is to its members. But they and the society as a whole also have a significant responsibility to the people of Nelson who have supported Granite Pointe for decades. The City has generously tried to assist in various ways – through loans, annual permissive tax exemptions (subsidized by taxpayers), and rezoning of land for residential development. Also, the community chose the path around the golf course as Nelson’s centennial project.
